Almost everyone who visits Samos falls in love with the island. This way, Samos has a big percentage of repeating visitors since the 80s!
Is it the stunning nature, its colorful beaches or the rich cultural history?
We share with you 5 reasons to fall in love with the beloved island of Eastern Aegean Sea.
The Ancient Tunnel of Efpalinos
Unique, remarkable and unbelievable construction project for its time and for the centuries that followed. A true sign of hard work, a proof of mankind’s strength and capability and above all the result of a well run state, by Polycrates , at that time.
Besides that, a great spot with fabulous view to Pythagorio town and Potokaki beach.
Manolates village
Simply one of the most beautiful villages to visit in Samos. There are numerous walking trails based upon how long you wish to walk. Connected with more than 10 other villages and places, Manolates is a great example of traditional Samian villages.
Arts and crafts have developed the last decade in various workshops that give a fine artistic touch to your tour.
The Old Town of Samos
Originally called Pano (upper) Vathy. This is the place with the characteristic architecture of house construction of the past two centuries. Walk around, stop at a small café and talk to the locals.
You will be able to go up to the open air theatre and the small chapel of St. John to enjoy the view to the gulf of Vathy. In the afternoon might be better as you will also enjoy the sunset.
Samiopoula
It’s not only the small islet and it’s sandy beach. It’s basically the experience of the trip. Take the small wooden boats from Pythagorio, in the morning, and enjoy a day full of fun. Samiopoula is simple and beautiful, a small picture of Samos. On your way back, be sure that you won’t forget this day.
Potami Waterfalls and Seitania
The time to admire Samos’ nature… is here! Potami beach might be impressive but if you take a 10’ walk you will find the small waterfall. This is the beginning of a small adventure you will love. The second and bigger waterfall need time to be found but the whole way to reach it is in the heart of the island’s nature.
If you still are the kind of person who prefers the shore and beaches, walk to Seitania (the small one in 30’ the big one in 45’). Only on foot you can reach them. The scenery is fantastic and the two different but both attractive beaches will compensate you for your effort.
